We may not be able to fully comprehend some other person’s
pain in sickness, grief, embarrassing situation, loss, breakdowns, failures etc. We can slip into those
shoes easier if we had experienced something similar in our past or presently. Compassion
evokes from fitting our legs in those shoes. That way we can come a bit close to
what others feel in their dilemma. You see!
Compassion is way more than pity.
One of my favorite things is reading especially an
article that resonate testimony embedded in a personal story. Many writers
express their hearts in words which is difficult because I know how hard it may
be to reveal your thoughts to others.
One incredible story
is that of Letitia
Mullenix , a remarkable blogger who spends most of her time sending out a
word of prayer and encouragement everyday and sharing her inspiring articles
too.
Why am I writing this? You may wonder.
She has been struggling with an autoimmune disease
called Lupus for the past four years. But remarkably she still finds time to give
love to others. Please read her story here.
This scripture is a source of encouragement.
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast
down, but not destroyed;
2 Corinthians 4:8-9
Let us ponder on these questions:
♥ Can you share about Jesus with much passion in your
present situation?
♥ Can others really see Jesus in you?
♥ Does your actions reflect the selfless life Jesus
encouraged us to live?
♥ In your trials, can you boldly say “God Is Good”?
But he said unto her, Thou speakest as
one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of
God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
Job 2:10
I learnt a memorable lesson. In her personal struggle with this sickness,
she makes the one choice to move forward and to reach out to others.
You can choose to live beyond your struggles and put smiles of
hope on the faces of others
You may be tempted and choose to
To stay mad at God,
Fight others and
Close the door of love and compassion,
One thing is sure; your option to live a selfless life remains open. Etch this in your heart forever!
You are useful to God in spite of your present situation
God
will advertise His glory in your Life.
On a final note, in our series of correspondence,
here is what she wrote to me,
“No matter what trials we may face, God is able - and we can trust Him to
carry us through.
God has proven himself again, and again through trials too
numerous to count (many of them much larger than I would have liked) and I have
learned that Hope in Christ is a Good Investment.
He has never, ever let me down. And because of that, I can - and must - encourage others to
trust Him through their trials. Because I know that He is faithful”
