The Musings of the Sunday School Teacher (Part II)

My diary entry continues with a rather puzzling question. If you missed the first part of the diary, please read it here.

Are you sabotaging your Kids Sunday school Teacher’s efforts?

Do you know you may be undermining your kids Sunday school teacher’s efforts?

As a Sunday school teacher, I often have hiccups with some of my kids. It is hard enough getting kids especially preteens and 4 – 7 year olds to settle down and to listen. Having those efforts wasted may be frustrating. My teens are not left out too.

How Not-To-Frustrate your kids Sunday school teacher

Ask questions. Good old fashioned way of asking kids what they learnt at Sunday school, should never be neglected.

“What did your teacher say today?”

“What Bible lessons did you learn today?”

“Did you learn any new songs today?”

“What is your lessons memory verse?”

Depending on your kid’s age, the above questions are relevant.

Listen. You don’t want your kids’ teacher to be frustrated right? Please listen to your kids when they share what exciting experience they had in church. Encourage them to say what they have learnt thereby encouraging their memory.

Continue with Bible lessons. Don’t leave all the discipling to the teacher; bible story books can be read to your kids especially preteens and toddlers. Follow up with what was taught at the Sunday school and pray along with your kids.

Be Godly examples. Kids’ attitudes are a reflection of their homes. Be a role model to your kids because they watch and learn we ought to be careful. To make a disciple of our kids requires that we also be Jesus Disciples too.

As a parent what other ways can you Not-Frustrate your Sunday school teacher? If you are a teacher like me, please suggest other ways parents can encourage their kids.

Please remember to read the more entries in the diary. I will be sharing ways to encourage your local church’s Sunday school teachers and how to improve yourself as a Sunday school teacher in subsequent writings.
