Today's Devotion
Every
morning as the earth around me begins to wake up; I am reminded of the grace,
the mercy and the faithfulness of our God. The rising of the sun brings the
songs of the birds of the air, and as the glories of His creation awakens, so
does my soul. It is in these moments when I am reminded of how great and mighty
our God is, and how worthy He is to be praised.
Yet, in the midst of all that, He wants to
hear what we have to say. We are His children, we are His chosen generation,
His royal priesthood, and He has given us a voice to speak up and proclaim to
the world around us that He alone is God forever and ever. Every day I fail
Him. Yet every morning He awakens in my soul that hope that today is a new day
and He is still with me, every step of the way.
One of my favorite prayers to recite for my fellow brothers
and sisters in the Lord is found in Ephesians
3:14-4:3. Paul’s heart for the saints who were in Ephesus is evident
through the words that he penned, and today, it is my hope that these words
will become our prayer for women everywhere.
Will you join me as we “bow {our} knees before the Father, from
whom every family in heaven and on earth is named” (Ephesians 3:14 ESV)?
# 1
Ephesians 3:16 “that according to the riches of His glory He may grant {us, His
daughters} to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in {our} inner
beings. (Parenthesis mine
throughout)
Give us strength oh Lord to do Your will.
Transform us, renew us, as the sun rises upon us each day, so let Your Holy
Spirit fill us anew according to the abundance of Your riches in Christ Jesus
our Lord.
#2
Ephesians 3:17 “so that Christ may dwell in {our}
hearts through faith- that {we} being rooted and grounded in love”
Clean out our cluttered
hearts, Lord. Make room for Christ to dwell. Open
our closets, Holy Spirit, and help us clean out the clutter of distractions,
fears, sin, disobedience and anything else that keeps You from having complete
reign over us. Lord Jesus, dwell in us and through us.
Build us up through Your word; establish us according to Your word.
Give us a hunger for Your word. May we be rooted and grounded in Your love so
that no matter what storms come, our house remains.
# 3
Ephesians 3:18 “may have strength to comprehend with
all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth”
Expand our knowledge of You
Lord Jesus, that we might know You, intimately. Not
just knowing of You, but knowing You, just as You know us. Give us strength to
fight off the distractions that keep us from Your Word.
Give us strength in the day of temptation.
Give us strength to understand Your word that we might apply it to our hearts
and walk it out before You. Give us strength, O Lord, to know You, just as we
are known by You.
# 4
Ephesians 3:19 “and to know the love of Christ that
surpasses knowledge, that {we} may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
Blow our minds, Lord. Bring
us into awe, wonder and reverence for the love that You have for us.
Remind us of this love when life brings us pain or loneliness, and when we are
without hope fill us with the knowledge of Your perfect promises.
When
we feel alone, remind us that we are Your beloved, and we are the apple of Your
eye. In our emptiness, fill us with Your presence.
# 5
Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do far more
abundantly than all we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,”
Let our lips ever proclaim
the glory of Your promises to us! You are at work in us!
When we are distraught, remind us of Your infinite ability to create something
out of nothing. When our darkness overwhelms us remind us that You spoke and
light was.
Your
desire is to do great things in us and through us, and Your desire for us is
greater than our circumstances. Strengthen us in the truth that You are able,
and we don’t have to be.
# 6
Ephesians 3:21 “to Him be glory in the Church and in
Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever, Amen.”
Father God, let Your glory
dwell in our hearts, in our homes, in our churches.
Let Your glory be seen in us and through us as we walk before the world in Your
truth.
Let the next generation look to us
and see You in us and through us, that they too may also proclaim the glory of
Your grace and praise forever and ever In
Jesus Name Amen.
