3 Powerful Statements Christians Should Stop Saying!

caution, words
A few years ago while I was an undergraduate, I attended a Christian fellowship where a powerful minister, Dr. Olukoya, was invited to speak.

Though, I was young, his message that day had pierced through my heart and the depth of His teaching I did not fully understand at that time.

It won’t be about six years later the Holy Spirit began unfolding the depth and power of what the minster had taught.

He spoke about how believers had lost their faith as a result of these three careless statements.
Today, I will like to share the statements with you.
Draw your seat closer and take a read...

1.          “God Will Understand”. Many times we say this, we hide behind excuses.

The last time you said “God Will Understand”, what was your real intent?

I reflect on my own personal life, I couldn’t agree more. I am just as guilty.

We abuse God’s Grace every time we intentionally continue in sin.

Here is what the Scripture says...
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Romans 6:1 -2

Also, when we know what is right and don’t do it, unto us that is sin!
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
James 4:17

2.          “It doesn’t matter”. As harmless as it sounds, this statement may cost you a lot more than you bargained for.

Dear friend, by now we know the enemy is attacking our Christian faith.

Does sin and iniquity not matter anymore to us as believers?

The cheap charade of evil even within the church, does it not matter to us?

Consider your own life, what actions do you take and think it doesn’t matter?

It may not matter to you but it matters to God.

It may not matter to people but it matters to God.

There is no fence to sit on. It is time to take a stand against evil and shunning it for good in our personal lives.
No more hiding under the guise of diplomacy or tolerance.
No more "it doesn't matter"
Let us call that which is evil, evil and good, good. Not the other way round.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Isaiah 5:20

3.          “Everybody is doing it”. In my opinion, I consider this the most dangerous statement and it should STOP immediately.

Dwell deeply on this,
Just because everyone, both high and mighty, is doing it, doesn’t make it right before the Lord.

Like the days of Elijah, I am glad to announce to you that not everyone has bowed their heads to Baal.  There is still a remnant reserved!
Alleluia!

But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.  Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
Romans 11:4-15

Not every believer is compromised today!
Let us choose to straighten our paths before the Lord.
I recall 21 Egyptian Christians killed for their Christian faith.

What Bravery!

In their death, they have challenged you and I.

In their death they have taught us what it means to take a stand for Jesus.

In their death, they refused to bow their heads to the god of this world.

In their death, they spilled their innocent blood on a dying world just like Abel, Jesus and all the faithful martyrs gone before.

Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:
Exodus 23:2

You see friend Jesus is the only person that matters.

What people have to say or do don’t matter because they aren’t the ones who died for you to be set free in the first place.

It is time to give up on what every other person is doing and follow hard what the Lord wants you to do.

What then shall we do?
Like the question the people asked Peter, I am sure you are interested in a way forward. (Acts 2:37)

The way forward is Repentance!
II Chronicles 7:14

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
2Chronicles 7:14

We all have sinned and there is none that is without sin but good news is, the Lord Jesus Christ has shed His Blood for our redemption.

Let us pray
Dear Lord, I am here before you, like a lost sheep, I have blindly wandered off in my own path. I acknowledge this day that I am a sinner. I acknowledge that I failed you in many ways.
But, dear Lord, you shed precious blood on the cross of Calvary for the remission of my sins. Have mercy upon me and wash away my sins with your precious blood.
I, Lord, make this decision today to follow you. Lead me, dear Lord in your paths of righteousness; help me to walk along the paths you have chosen for me .
Dear Lord, take my name away from the Book of the death and write it in the Book of life in Jesus name.
Thank you Jesus for embracing me and welcoming me into your fold in Jesus name.

Dear friend, if you said that prayer with me, I want to encourage you to stand firm in God’s Word. Get a Bible, find Godly friends and join a Bible-believing fellowship. This with the help of the Holy Spirit will help you grow your faith.
