I am glad to introduce us to this new series of devotionals yet again don’t you just love it?
Do you need to find space in your life to rest, breathe and refuel? Then you will love this one. I very excited to write this series with my friends.
BREATHE is an acronym but we will unwrap each word just like a treasure hunt.
Today’s Word is T and it stands for Trust in the Lord
Trust
in the Lord by Stephane Singlatary
Sometimes
we get up at night to use bathroom, or have a drink of water we may stagger and
trip on every single piece of furniture as we try find to have see some light.
During
the day we walk with much ease and with no trouble at all. But when the lights are
out, we stumble and knock even the very thing we own!
Do you know that is how we are at life
too!
It
is easy to trust the Lord when we can see where we are going, isn’t it?
Yet the word “trust” appears 134 times in the Bible.
“trust in the Lord with all our heart, and lean not on our own
understanding” Proverbs
3:5 (NKJV)
During
my Sunday school lessons, I asked one of my kids if they trusted their seat
would hold them up.
Her response was ‘yes’, they trusted
that the chair would keep them from hitting the floor.
I asked again,
“would you trust the same seat if it only had one leg”. They all chorused a resounding
‘No’.
Trusting
the Lord means that we are confident that no matter how dark it gets, or how
many legs our seat is got, He will hold us up.
If we say we trust the Lord, then we need to
be confident in Him and in His ability to get us through even the darkest of
times.
Our trust is in His promises,
to guide us,
to lead us,
to protect us and
to bring us through this trial without
a bruise or a broken toe.
“But now thus says the Lord, He who created you, O Israel: ‘Fear
not, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name, you are mine. When you
pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they shall
not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the
flame shall not consume you.”
Isaiah 43:1-2 (ESV)
A
wise teacher once told me that nothing
happens to us that has not first passed through the hands of our Father in
heaven.
When the lights go out,
it takes us by surprise, but our God saw the storm coming and prepared us for
this moment.
Here is what we should know:
He is not scrambling around to figure
out how to get you out of this dark room.
He is not running into the furniture
or bumping His head
He is not surprised by anything that
has or ever will overtake you.
He has allowed it to happen so that
you could reach out and grab hold of His hand.
He has allowed this to happen for His
glory, and for your benefit.
Sometimes the greatest adventure of our lives is that moment
when the wind picks up and grabs a hold of our sails and takes us into the deep
and troubled waters.
If we had not gone through those
stormy waters we would never have experienced the blessings on the other side. Have confidence in the truth that He
has not brought you this far to leave you now.
Do
you know ‘fear’ is written 365 times in the Bible? That is one reminder a day
not to fear.
Fear is the opposite of trust
If
we trust God then we have nothing to fear.
We have nothing to fear because God has redeemed us, He has called us by our
names.
This
God created you
This same God has formed you,
He has chosen you for this moment in
your life.
A good way to remind yourself of this
truth when the storm comes upon you is to tell yourself,
“If God has brought me to it,
He will bring me through it”
Write it down on a piece a paper and
hang this truth somewhere that you will see it every day.
Believe me when I testify that the
blessing on the other side of this storm will be worth the darkness you have
endured. Some of the greatest moments in my life have been the storms where the
power went out.

My Prayer for you
Father God, I pray
for the woman who is reading these words right now. I pray that she would trust
you in the darkness, that she would reach for Your outstretched hand and have
confidence in Your ability to bring her through this time in her life. There is
nothing that surprises you because You are sovereign and You are God. You are
the God who formed us, created us and called us by name. You are calling out to
us today to reach up and grab a hold of You just as tightly as You have grabbed
a hold of us. Father, I pray for this woman to be strengthened in her faith and
that her trust in Your love for her will abound more and more. I pray all this
in Jesus Name, amen and amen.
