When You feel Like That Messy Girl

What God says about the dirty girl

Unqualified, undeserving, blamed, that girl everyone avoids and narrowly looks down on. This girl makes the heads turn the other way and shoulders shudder, ever being that girl? Clad with every bit of messiness, filth and dirtiness.

Do you know that girl?

Let me show that same woman who lived in the days gone by and who still lives in the present day. Let me show Rahab who is a well known wayward, favorite playtime for the ‘big boys’.

What God did with this all round messy girl was remarkable and unexpected.

Oh well I know Rahab’, you would think.

But she still lives here among us. It may be you, or the sister next door.

Purely my personal opinion here (Please read Joshua 2:1-7) she gives me the impression she was comfortable and a bit classy too. Why? The king knew who she was. This girl must have been a pro at her job to earn the notice of the king. May be she was pretty, put together, seductive and had her way with men.

She probably had all the sassy, sweet little nothings many men would love to hear. Her clients will most likely return for more and more because she sure had a way for making the ‘Boys’ feel good.

I sincerely don’t think I will be a match for her witty nature.

What do I admire about this woman?

Allow me share with you.

Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token: And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.
And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.
Joshua 2:12-14

* Most likely to she lived in "this lifestyle" to sustain her family.

* She got the chance to ask for a favor. She was in no way selfish about it.

* She wanted her family saved. Wow!

* This gives me the impression that she was no ordinary girl even in her messy state. She was caring, loving in the midst of her dirty girl disposition.

I am sure you will think,

Does she have it all? No!

Unsatisfied and hungry for this God of Israel she had heard of. The God of Israel who had conquered all of Israel’s enemies and was coming for her nation.

Oh, I love this woman!

♥ She had faith in God’s people.

♥ She had faith in their promise of the scarlet thread.

♥ She had faith that not only saved her but everyone close to her.

♥ She had faith in God.

By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
Hebrews 11:31

God repaid her kindness saved her and took away her filthy garments adopted her into His Kingdom.

Are you her?
God has showered you with His love (Jeremiah 31:3).

Are you her?
You have no one to condemn you because He has loved you (Romans 8:1).

Are you her?
God is ready to take away that messiness and give you beauty for ashes.
Oops! He has given you the beauty for ashes already (Isaiah 61:3).

Are you her?
Men have looked down on you; but He has lifted you from the miry clay and set your feet on the solid rock (Psalm 40:2).

Are you her?
Don’t forget the Scarlet thread it is a symbol of His promise to you. He will never leave you or forsake you (Joshua 1:5).

When ever you feel like that messy girl, remember,

♥ God sees your heart,

♥ He loves you,

♥ You are His Main girl,

♥ You are His own.

Like Rahab, embrace His love.

Like Rahab, He has reserved your place among His people.

Prayer Prompt
Dear Lord, thank you for your unfailing love. You embrace me with Your Glory. You cover me in your Mercy.

You found me in filth but You Lord, did not judge me but drew me closer and took away my filthy garments. Lord you gave me beauty for ashes.

Thank you for the scarlet thread, the symbol of your promise to never leave me nor forsake me.

By His Grace,

Ifeoma Samuel
