Can
God Count On You?
Sometime last week after bible
study, my husband and I ruminated on Genesis 18:19. This scripture had both
made us sit and think deeply.
For I know him, that
he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep
the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon
Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
Genesis
18:19
God was so sure that Abraham will
lead his household in the way of the Lord. He knew that Abraham was a man of
integrity.
As we deliberated on this verse,
there arose some drive-home questions. I will also like you to pause here and
think deeply over them:
·
Can
God count on me, to do his will?
·
Can
God count on me, to shine my light in this dark world?
·
Can
God count on me, to listen to his instructions?
·
Can
God count on me, to serve in my community with my God-given gifts and
resources?
·
Can
God count on me, to raise our children to love him?
·
Can
God count on me, to obey him in every situation at all times?
·
Can
God boast of me?
God had a great deal confidence
in Abraham. He knew him inside out. As we studied through the life of Abraham,
we see the sincerity and desire he had to please God. He feared the Lord greatly
and obeyed him.
This reminds me of Job. God had
much faith in Job. God so much so bragged to the devil about his son who was
upright.
And the LORD said
unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright
man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
Job
1:8
Quick Question: Can I earn that kind of honor from God?
Can
God have bragging rights over me?
What are your reflections about these questions? Please
share it in the comments section. I’d love to hear from you.
