Day 19
Your hang out places
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the
counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the
seat of the scornful.
Psalm 1:1
I recently was need of Bibles for my
Sunday school kids. I wanted something durable and picturesque for different categories of
kids.
Well having prayed about it, I decided to give
the bookstore in the mall a try. I had few concerns. I did not know whether the
attendant was a Christian, or if s/he would know what I wanted.
Fortunately, I just didn’t meet the
book store owner; I met a Christian friend who became my resource person. She went
out of her way, sowed into the project and sought out materials for the varying
age range. I was more than satisfied and blessed on our meeting.
Amazing, isn’t it? The Lord directs us
in littlest matters once we commit our goings in his hands. This brings this
scripture in my mind,
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this
time forth, and even for evermore.
Psalm 121:8
God is concerned about where we go. He
watches over us jealously.
I have seen people who love God make this terrible mistake. They go to
places known to harbor people who don’t love God or have no fear of God.
Some parties and get-together's are better avoided. They initially look
harmless, good for business and meeting up people etc. with all the right
reasons. But they are not places God will rather have us to be.
There are people who have gotten into big troubles by being in the
wrong place at the wrong time. The bible says go the other way avoid the road
of the wicked who do not fear God.
Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way
of evil men. Avoid it, pass not
by it, turn from it, and pass away
Proverbs 4:14-15
We should give careful thoughts
to the places where we hang out.
This does not mean we shy away from
meeting people or become over critical of where we are.
It simply means we should be conscious
and allow the Holy Spirit direct our going out even for the shortest distances.
Don’t just hang out anywhere.
Prayer tools
*Dear
Lord, I submit my goings into your hands.
*I see that you are interested
in the places I go. Direct my footsteps.
*Your word says you
will speak to me and tell me the way I should go.
And thine ears shall hear a word behind
thee, saying, This is the way, walk
ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
Isaiah 30:21
Holy Spirit, open my
ears to listen for your voice and yield to your directions.
