Day 18
MENTORING AND BEING MENTORED

Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
Philippians 3:17

Mentoring is the opportunity of holding your torch out for others to see the way. When you shine your light for others, you don’t remain in darkness. Mentoring is pouring yourself out through service, counselling, fellowship and such alike into the lives of the brethren.

I have been privileged to have some great Christian women mentored me as a young person. I am privileged to have them in my life. Eunice Adetiba, Bernadine Anyanwu and Maureen Mbam , are women who gave their good counsel and prayers in my life.

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;  That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children
Titus 2:3-4

There are many teachers but few Fathers. Fathers have scars; they have wealth of experience in Christian faith, marriage, careers business, and relationships. And this is where mentoring comes in.

4 Reasons To Have a Godly Mentor
1.  They guide you through the word of GodAquila and Priscilla were a godly couple who took Apollos under their wings and corrected him in love (Acts 18:24-26).
           2.  They live godly lives that you can emulate
Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
Hebrews 13:7
      3.  They speak life into your life.  Great ideas may just end up in your    thoughts.  You need godly wisdom to execute your plans.

The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.
Ecclesiastes 10:15

      4.  They pray for you. Apostle Paul on several occasions prayed for the  people who looked up to him in ministry.

4 Reasons To Mentor Others
     1.  You strengthen others in faith. New believers and other brethren  often need counsel and ask questions. Being available to help their  faith walk is a privilege.

       2.  It improves your Christian walk.

       3.  You learn from your mentees. Through their experiences you gain  knowledge

       4.  It builds your prayer life. It is an opportunity to pray for those who  look up you.
