Patience: ..and to temperance patience….

God is patient with us even when we fall. Patience is a rare virtue and not an easy task. Learning to wait on God is a lesson I had to take. It is not enough to pray for a miracle but waiting for it to pull through makes it just about enough.

I have also learnt patience from my Sunday school kids. I have a lot of kids all with different personalities. You’ve got to have a lot of patience and love to be with them.

We learn patience through pain, difficulties, sickness, disappointment, failures etc in every area of our lives. The bible says:

Romans 5:3-5  And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;  And patience, experience; and experience, hope:  And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

When we go through challenges we learn patience and through these challenges we gain experience that teaches us there is hope in every situation. And That God will show up and we won’t be left ashamed.

In our expectation from God, we wait with patience because we know that our expectation will not be cut off (Proverbs 23:18). In long wait for a desire such as healing, fruit of the womb etc. we do not despair. Just keep your eyes on Jesus and he has promised never to leave nor forsake you.

Romans 8:25  But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

We cannot receive God’s promise upon our lives without patience. We must not lose hope. Faithful is he that has called us.

Hebrews 10:36  For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

In temptations and trails we need all the patience we can get, so that our faith can be perfected. When circumstances come to try our faith in God, we should remember they are there to make us stronger and perfect.

James 1:2-4  My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;   Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.  But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

The very little things in our daily life teach us patience. The queue at the grocery store or bank, the traffic lights, cleaning up after our kids and other daily activities serve as a reminder that to live a fulfilled life you have need of patience.
We also need to teach our kids to be patient even with others. This is what God expects from us too.

1Thessalonians 5:14  Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

Romans 15:4  For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.  Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

10 Good Reasons You Should Wait On The Lord.

Isaiah 40:31  But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

1. You renew your strength. God refreshes, replenishes and refills you.

2. You gain speed and momentum (when it is time to run). You recover time and excel. you  wont get worn out.

3. You will not faint (when it is time to walk). Weakness is not in your vocabulary because God has strengthened you.

Isaiah 37:9  For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

4. You will inherit the earth.

Psalm 62:5  My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

5. Your expectation is from the Lord.

Lamentation 3:25-26  The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

6. The Lord will be good to you.

Habakkuk 2:3  For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry

7. The promise of God must surely come to pass in your life.
Isaiah 30:18  And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

8. You will be blessed.

Isaiah 25:9  And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

9. God will save you.

10.  And you will rejoice in his Salvation.

I also need all the patience too so I make this prayer.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, I may not be the very best in waiting. Please help me to be more patient in my expectations in Jesus name.
