….and to brotherly kindness, charity.
Hello everyone, it has been a great privilege to
have studied this series on 2Peter
1:5-10.
The last of the list of eight is love. It is the best reserved for
the last.
The whole essence of being a Christian is to love.
The word “love” is one of the most commonly abused
words.
The true meaning of love can only be obtained from the God who is Love.
It is imperative we understand what it means to love God and then those around
us.
The two
greatest commandants are all about love.
Matthew 22:37-39
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy
heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
We all need to love God. When you are immersed in
loving God and then it becomes a part of you to love others. You can’t say you love God you
have not seen and yet hate the people around you.
Deuteronomy10:12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God
require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to
love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy
soul,
1John4:7-8 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is
of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that
loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
The bible is clear on the various characteristics
of love. So when next you say you love someone do check the list and make sure
you meet the requirements.
