………….And to godliness, brotherly
kindness…….
One of the
weapons of the enemy is to create disunity in fellowships and our places of
worship. It creates a breeding ground for strife, anger, gossip, bickering etc.
It hinders the move of the Holy Spirit. When you have a heart to love others you
overlook all their shortcomings. No one is perfect. We all have our weaknesses.
The only way to overcome is to love others despite their faults.
In order to
reach the unlovable, you show kindness out of a sincere heart. Don’t love only
those who love you, or give to only those who give to you. Share your God given abilities, gifts,
talents, etc. wholeheartedly to God’s people. There will always be people who
would stand in the way of good. But look beyond this with a sense of spiritual maturity
and fulfillment. You don’t want to go quarreling with everyone around you. Or do
you?
Romans 12:10 Be
kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one
another;
5 Good Reasons to Show Brotherly Kindness
1. It is a commandment. God expects
this from us.
John 13:34 A new
commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you,
that ye also love one another.
2. If you love God, you will love others. Simply put, brotherly
kindness shows you love God.
1John 4:21 And this
commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
3. Brotherly kindness is one way to show non-believers that you
are a Christian.
John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if
ye have love one to another.
4. It is a privilege to serve God’s people.
Galatians
6:10 As we have therefore
opportunity, let us do good unto all men,
especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
5. When you love others you will become un-blameable in holiness
before God.
1Thessalonians
3:12-13 And the Lord make
you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable
in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ
with all his saints.
How to show brotherly kindness
1.
Give your gifts, money,
talents, helping hand to those in need etc.
Matthew 25:37-40 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying,
Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we
thee a stranger, and took thee in?
or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and
came unto thee? And the King shall
answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my
brethren, ye have done it unto
me.
Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto
liberty; only use not liberty
for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
2.
Rejoice with others and
be compassionate in pain.
Romans 12:15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
3. Don’t
lie to your brethren. Speak the truth at all times.
Ephesians 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man
truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
4.
Pray for your brethren
James 5:16
Confess your faults one
to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual
fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
5.
Don’t be puffed up.
1Corinthians 13:4 Charity suffereth
long, and is kind; charity
envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
